While constructing Spirit of the Masai Mara it was important for Nadja and Justin to use sustainable building materials as well as supporting local handicrafts groups. From the poles that make up the roof structures to the furniture and the amenities in the bathrooms, we have carefully sourced our products and suppliers to ensure that while providing a luxury ambience we protect the environment and support local communities.

Don Bosco Boys Town
Born in Northern Italy, St. John Bosco (Don Bosco), founded the Salesian Society of Brothers and Priests in 1859. Don Bosco Boys Town was set up in Nairobi in 1985 and the brothers and priests have made it their mission to empower marginalised youth and to teach them different life skills such as carpentry, welding, plumbing and tailoring to lead a life of dignity. All our furniture was commissioned to Don Bosco.
When staying at Spirit of the Masai Mara, our clients can indulge in the wonderful organic soaps, shower gels and shampoos of Cinnabar Green. The company is based in Laikipia and steam distils their essential oils used for the production of their organic beauty products. All Cinnabar Green essential oils are sustainably harvested in their own herb garden on the lower slopes of Mt. Kenya.
